OPPO has partnered with Bangladesh National Football Team captain Jamal Bhuyan for its Football World Cup campaign, aiming to celebrate the country’s passion for the sport and support Bangladesh football through a series of fan engagement initiatives.
The technology brand said the partnership reflects the pride of millions of Bangladeshi football supporters who follow global stars during the FIFA World Cup while also standing behind their own national team captain, who carries the red and green on the international stage.
Football has become more than a sport in Bangladesh, with the FIFA World Cup turning streets, university campuses, tea stalls and homes into places of celebration. Fans gather in team jerseys, families share memorable moments and football rivalries are shaped by excitement and respect.
Although Bangladesh has yet to compete at football’s biggest global tournament, the country’s enthusiasm for the game remains among the strongest worldwide.
OPPO said Jamal Bhuyan represents the same spirit of leadership, dedication and national pride that global football icons such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar represent for their countries. Through his commitment to Bangladesh football, Jamal has inspired young players to dream of representing the national team.
As part of the partnership, OPPO said it aims to support Bangladesh football by connecting the FIFA World Cup celebrations with the country’s own football journey and the national captain who continues to inspire fans.
OPPO, which has a strong local presence and manufacturing operations in Bangladesh, said supporting the country means supporting its people, aspirations and the sports they follow.
To add to the World Cup celebrations, OPPO has launched a nationwide university FIFA match screening campaign titled “Which University Will Win the Chance to Watch the Semi-Final with Jamal Bhuyan?”
Students from universities across Bangladesh have been invited to vote and support their campuses. The university receiving the highest engagement will get the opportunity to host Jamal Bhuyan for a special FIFA World Cup semi-final screening on 16 July, where students will watch the match alongside the Bangladesh captain.
Damon Yang, General Manager of OPPO Bangladesh Authorized Exclusive Distributor, said football has the ability to unite people across borders.
“Football has a unique power to unite people across borders. Every country celebrates its own football hero—Argentina has Messi, Portugal has Ronaldo, Brazil has Neymar, and Bangladesh has Jamal Bhuyan,” he said.
“At OPPO, we are proud to support Bangladesh football and celebrate the passion that millions of Bangladeshis share for the beautiful game. Through this partnership and our university campaign, we hope to bring fans even closer to the excitement of the FIFA World Cup while creating unforgettable moments with Bangladesh’s own football icon,” Yang added.
Jamal Bhuyan said representing Bangladesh had always been the greatest honour of his career and praised the passion of Bangladeshi football fans.
“Representing Bangladesh has always been the greatest honour of my career. The passion Bangladeshi fans have for football is truly incredible,” he said.
“I am delighted to partner with OPPO to celebrate that passion and look forward to meeting students across the country through this campaign. I can’t wait to watch the FIFA World Cup Semi-Final with the winning university and create unforgettable memories together,” he added.
Through the partnership, OPPO said it aims to combine the excitement of the world’s biggest football tournament with Bangladesh’s own football hero, while supporting local talent and creating experiences for football fans nationwide.
The company said that while the world cheers for Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar, Bangladesh proudly stands behind its own captain, Jamal Bhuyan.
