Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has crossed a major milestone, surpassing 1 billion viewing hours globally and further cementing its place as one of the franchise’s biggest success stories, reports Screen Rant.
According to Netflix’s latest What We Watched report covering January to June 2026, One Piece Season 2 ranked as the platform’s seventh most-watched series during the first half of the year.
Combined with Season 1, the live-action adaptation has now amassed approximately 1.33 billion viewing hours, equivalent to nearly 173 million views since its 2023 debut.
The achievement comes as the franchise marks 29 years since Eiichiro Oda first launched the One Piece manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 1997.
Over nearly three decades, the series has evolved into one of the world’s most successful entertainment franchises, with Monkey D. Luffy becoming one of anime and manga’s most recognisable characters.
Netflix recently confirmed that filming for Season 3, titled The Battle of Alabasta, has wrapped.
The new season is scheduled to premiere in 2027, adapting one of the manga’s most beloved story arcs.
The live-action series has played a significant role in introducing One Piece to a broader global audience beyond longtime anime and manga fans.
While receiving praise from existing followers, the adaptation has also attracted new viewers unfamiliar with the original story, contributing to the franchise’s continued international growth.
The momentum is expected to continue in 2027, which is shaping up to be a landmark year for One Piece.
Alongside the live-action series’ third season, Wit Studio’s highly anticipated anime remake is also slated for release, offering a fresh retelling of the early adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates.
With both projects arriving around the franchise’s 30th anniversary, 2027 is expected to become one of the biggest years in One Piece history, further expanding the global reach of Eiichiro Oda’s enduring adventure.
