Members of the Bangladesh Army conducted a special operation in Hizla Upazila of Barisal, resulting in the detention of one individual with a large cache of local weapons.
Acting on intelligence, a team from the 41 Bir unit, carried out the raid in Charkushuria village within Hizla Gaurabdi Union on Saturday.
The operation, led by Major Kazi Zahidul Islam and involving 60 army personnel, started around 3am and concluded at 10am.
During the drive, security forces apprehended Mostafa Sikdar, 50, son of the late Abdur Rahman Sikdar from Ward-3.
The seizure included 12 local sharp weapons, one Chinese axe, and three mobile phones, consisting of two smartphones and one basic phone. Army sources stated that the raid was part of a regular effort to recover drugs and illegal arms.
Both the detained individual and the seized items have been handed over to the local police station to complete the necessary legal processes.
