The film One Battle After Another swept the 98th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, winning six Oscars including best picture.
Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the dark comedy action thriller also earned best director and best casting, marking a breakthrough for the filmmaker after years of nominations.
Featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti, the film led this year’s race with 13 nominations.
In the acting categories, Michael B Jordan won best actor for Sinners, while Jessie Buckley claimed best actress for Hamnet, becoming the first Irish performer to win in that category. In her speech, Buckley dedicated the award to “the beautiful chaos of a mother’s heart.”
Autumn Durald Arkapaw made history as the first woman to win best cinematography, honored for her work on Sinners. Another milestone came when The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva tied for best live-action short film, only the sixth tie in the category’s history.
The ceremony, hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, capped a night of historic wins and standout performances.
