Dhallywood actor Omar Sani has criticised FIFA and accused some Argentina supporters of celebrating “shamelessly” following Argentina’s dramatic victory over Egypt, a match that has sparked widespread debate over refereeing and VAR decisions.

The controversy intensified after Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan alleged that the match had been manipulated to favour the reigning world champions and keep Lionel Messi in the tournament.

Amid the heated discussion on social media, Omar Sani shared a video message expressing his frustration over both FIFA’s handling of the match and the conduct of some Argentina fans.

In the video, the actor said he has been a follower of football for many years and regularly played the sport before pursuing his acting career. He added that he has watched the FIFA World Cup for decades.

Sani alleged that FIFA had treated both Iran and Egypt unfairly, describing the situation as regrettable and raising questions about the governing body’s conduct.

A Brazil supporter, Sani said he accepted Brazil’s defeat because, in his view, the team did not play well enough to win. However, he criticised the way some Argentina supporters celebrated the victory.

“Brazil lost, and I do not call that unfair. Brazil played badly and deserved to lose. But some shameless Argentina fans are celebrating. I see no reason for such celebrations,” he said.

The actor also directed strong criticism at FIFA, claiming the organisation could face serious questions in the future if the current situation continues.

Towards the end of the video, Sani apologised if his remarks had offended anyone. He also clarified that he personally admires Lionel Messi, but said that does not mean he agrees with the behaviour of every supporter of the Argentina team.
