After making a strong impression in Dhallywood with Borbaad and Rakkhosh, filmmaker Mehedi Hassan Hridoy is set to enter the OTT space with his first web film. Popular actor Nusraat Faria has been cast in the lead female role.
The project, tentatively titled Lapata, marks Hridoy’s debut in web content, although the title may change before release.
Speaking to Kaler Kantho, Hridoy confirmed that the project is ready to go into production.
“Everything has been finalised for quite some time. Now it is only a matter of starting the shoot. We will begin filming next month,” he said.
Hridoy said the film will blend thriller and comedy elements. “We are trying to create something completely new and different,” he added.
Filming for the comedy-thriller is scheduled to begin in the middle of August. Alongside Nusraat Faria, the cast will include Nasir Uddin Khan, Shahriar Nazim Joy and several other familiar actors. The web film is expected to premiere on OTT platform iScreen towards the end of the year.
Hridoy made his big-screen debut last year with Borbaad, starring Shakib Khan. The film achieved notable box-office success and attracted widespread attention. He followed it with Rakkhosh, starring Siam Ahmed, which was released during this year’s Eid.
The filmmaker recently also announced another project with Shakib Khan. He said details of the cast and the rest of the production will be revealed after completing Lapata. Shooting for the new film is expected to begin towards the end of November.
Before that, another of Hridoy’s films, Biday, is scheduled for release during Durga Puja in October.
