The health condition of Nurul Haque Nur, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad, has significantly improved, and he may be discharged from the hospital at any time, said Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Speaking at a press briefing at his office on Monday, the DMCH Director provided detailed updates on Nur’s recovery progress following recent injuries.
According to Director Asaduzzaman, Nur had sustained a fractured nasal bone, and his jawbone is expected to take about four to six weeks to fully heal. “There was blood clotting around his eye, which has now resolved. His vision remains unaffected,” he confirmed.
He added that doctors were initially concerned about a head injury. While the first CT scan showed minor internal bleeding, a follow-up scan revealed no remaining clots. “There were concerns from some quarters about possible memory loss, but neurosurgeons have ruled out that possibility, given the nature of the injury,” he stated.
Currently, Nur has a mild fever, which doctors suspect could be viral. “He has been in the hospital for ten days now and had no fever until today. Given his history of cold-related allergies, this is likely not serious. Once the fever subsides, arrangements will be made for his discharge,” the director added.
