Gono Odhikar Parishad president and former DUCSU vice-president Nurul Haque Nur has pledged to build a corruption-free and just Bangladesh. He made the remarks while addressing a mass rally organised by the party’s Dinajpur district unit at the local institute ground on 8 November 2025.
Nur said the future Bangladesh would be free from corruption, misrule, and political domination. “There will be no place for mafias and opportunists in politics,” he said, urging citizens to reject the old politics of corruption and exploitation.
Referring to the closure of industries in the northern region, including the Dinajpur Sugar Mill and jute mills in Rangpur and Kushtia, Nur alleged that “foreign conspiracies” were behind the shutdowns aimed at crippling the economy. He pledged to revive the sugar and jute sectors and reopen abandoned factories to generate employment for youths.
Highlighting the importance of agriculture, Nur called for a comprehensive policy to protect farmers’ interests and expand industrial zones for job creation. He also stressed the need to strengthen healthcare and education to ensure equitable national development.
The event was presided over by Md Shafiqul Islam, president of the Dinajpur district unit, and conducted by Md. Golam Azam, general secretary.
Senior leaders including Faruk Hasan, Shahidul Islam Fahim, Hanif Khan Sajib, Masud Monnaf, Sohag Hossain, and Md Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Dr Tofayel Ahmed Dihan, Md Shahjahan, Haji Md Kamal Hossain also addressed the rally.
