The High Court has granted bail to Narayanganj city’s former mayor, Selina Hayat Ivy, in five cases.
On Sunday, the High Court bench of Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice Sagir Hossain issued the bail order.
Ivy has been facing five cases, including one over the killing of garment worker Minarul during an anti-discrimination student movement last year.
After the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August 2024, most party leaders went into hiding. However, Ivy remained at her home in Paschim Deobhog, Narayanganj.
On the morning of May 9, police arrested her from her residence and produced her before a local court in a murder case. Later she was sent to jail by the court. On May 27, following a two-day remand in the Minarul murder case, the court again ordered police to send her to jail.
