Activists of the Noakhali District unit of the Awami League entered the party’s main headquarters at the Town Hall intersection on Wednesday morning after breaking the lock of the main gate.
The office had remained locked since the political changeover on 5 August.
Eyewitnesses and party sources said a group of activists gathered in front of the office in the morning and later forced open the gate to enter the premises.
They put up a banner at the entrance reading “Noakhali District Awami League Office”.
A video of the incident was reportedly liked by a social media account under the name Jahangir Sheikh.
Slogans were chanted during the reopening as activists said they had returned after a long wait to resume political activities.
The incident drew attention in the locality, although no major untoward incidents were reported.
“It was a long-standing demand of the party activists to make the office operational. We have entered our office peacefully,” said a local worker.
