The Cabinet Division has announced that the Advisory Council of the interim government has been dissolved.
In a notification issued on Tuesday, it was stated that the president has decided to appoint Tarique Rahman as prime minister, as he is trusted by the majority of members of parliament, and has agreed to the formation of a new government under his leadership.
With the formation of the new government, the Advisory Council of the interim government will be considered dissolved.
The notification further said that, in accordance with Article 56(3) of the Constitution of Bangladesh, the president on Tuesday, 17 February, has appointed Tarique Rahman as the prime minister of the Government of Bangladesh.
The Cabinet Secretary signed the notification by order of the president.
