There is no longer any scope for criminals to hide in Jungle Salimpur in Sitakunda, Chittagong, according to Chittagong Range Police Super Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan.
He made this remark while visiting the area at around 1:30pm on Wednesday.
During the visit, Police Super Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan inspected the temporary camps established in Jungle Salimpur.
Commenting on the geographical location of this hill-surrounded area, he said that Salimpur is a remote and hilly area, making search operations challenging. Nevertheless, searches have been conducted as much as possible in various locations through operations, and the drive is still ongoing.
He further informed that intelligence is being gathered on the remote areas still inaccessible, and operations will be conducted there in phases.
Regarding public cooperation, the police super said, “Remember, Salimpur now has a relationship with our various police units; they are providing information on various criminal activities. Therefore, there is no scope for any crime or any criminal to remain in Salimpur.”
He also stated that no one coming from outside will be able to carry out terrorist activities in this area, and full control over criminals will be established very quickly.
On 9 March, a large joint force of approximately 3,200 members from the army, RAB, police, and BGB conducted an operation and took control of Jungle Salimpur. Earlier, despite prolonged efforts, control of the area could not be established; rather, police and administration officials were attacked during operations there.
Although criminals are currently in hiding, two temporary outposts, combining RAB and police, have been set up at SM Pilot High School and Alinagar High School in Jungle Salimpur to maintain normalcy.
