Bangladesh is not facing any shortage of oil, and the country’s import and supply systems are operating normally, said Mir Shahe Alam, state minister for local government, rural development and cooperatives.
He added that the government has prepared a three-month plan and introduced energy-saving measures, including closing markets by 6pm and reducing expenditures of ministers and secretaries by 30 percent.
Speaking to reporters during an inspection of Mahmudul Hasan Chand Market in Tangail on Friday morning, the state minister highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain energy stability and ensure smooth supply across the country.
Reflecting on development work, Mir Shahe Alam said that while promises of progress have been made over the past 17 years, visible improvements were often absent. “Field-level assessments now reveal the actual conditions clearly,” he said.
He also mentioned that discussions are underway with the district Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) to upgrade roads and market infrastructure in Tangail’s Park Market, with urgent development work set to begin soon.
The visit was attended by the State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, district LGED Executive Engineer Mohammad Kamruzzaman, and officials from various district administration departments.
