Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan on Friday assured that no form of discrimination would be permitted in the development of this region. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists at the Rangamati Circuit House premises.
This was Dewan’s first visit to his constituency in Rangamati since assuming office as a minister.
Upon his arrival, he was warmly received with floral tributes by the district administration, officials from various government departments, leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliate organisations, and people from all walks of life. Children also greeted him with flowers.
Dewan emphasised that the current government’s primary goal is to ensure the benefits of development reach every individual in the hilly region.
“We will work together with everyone to accelerate balanced development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts,” he stated, adding that efforts would focus on the overall progress of all sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure.
Regarding the government’s action plan, Dewan noted that the elected government has initiated a 180-day special development target. He further mentioned that priority will be given to areas that have lacked development for many years.
Present during the occasion were Major General (Retd) Anup Kumar Chakma, chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board; Agriculturist Kajal Talukdar, chairman of the Rangamati Hill District Council; and Nazma Ashrafi, Rangamati Deputy Commissioner, along with other senior administrative officials.
