Writers Web Bangladesh on Monday evening organised a Chaitra Sankranti festival at Joyita, Rapa Plaza, in the capital, where it announced its newly formed committee for the upcoming term.
Abbas Faruk has been elected President of the organisation, while Talukdar Lovely has assumed the role of general secretary. The newly constituted body comprises a diverse group of eminent poets, writers, researchers and academics.
The Vice Presidents are Dr Gouranga Mohanta, poet Farida Moni Shahidullah, Maleka Ferdous and Professor Dr Firoz, a noted translator and researcher. Professor Anita Das and poet Afchar Nizam have been named Joint Secretaries. Anjuman Ara Shilpi will serve as Treasurer, and Prochad Chowdhury has been appointed Publicity Secretary.

Among the Executive Members are poet Biplob Ray, Hasnat Amin, Shamsad Ferdousi and recitation artist Sakib.
The Advisory Council includes Professor Ahmed Reza, Brigadier (poet) Swapnil Samsh and Khondkar Ruhul Amin Hawlader, along with Professor Anita Das, Assistant Professor of Zoology, among others.
The organisation has also nominated district representatives across the country. These include poet Professor Azad Kamal in Tangail; Associate Professor Hasnain Istafiz Pavel of Chittagong University in Chattogram; poet and playwright Mrittika Chakma in Rangamati; Prashanta Tripura in Khagrachari; Professor Dr Sandhipak Mallik in Khulna; poet Narayan Chandra Burma, a former Additional Secretary, in Rangpur; and Prosenjit Kumar Mondal, Assistant Professor at Alauddin Ahmed Degree College, Kumarkhali, in Kushtia.
In addition, international representatives have been appointed in several countries, including poet Sunil Maji in Kolkata, Chandra Gurung in Nepal, Asror Alayarov in Uzbekistan, Metin Yildirim in Turkey, poet, writer and researcher Tapas Karmakar in Canada, and poet and essayist Shariful Alam in the United States.
The newly formed committee expressed hope that it would play a significant role in promoting literature, culture and creative writing, while strengthening communication and cooperation among writers and literary figures both at home and abroad.
