Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered Indian LSD worth nearly Tk6.24 crore from the Madhumati Express in Kushtia during a recent operation.
The seizure was confirmed on Tuesday through a press release by Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Roni, commanding officer of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB).
According to the press release, acting on a tip-off, a special patrol team of the Kushtia Battalion conducted a raid near Mirpur railway station on Monday night at 8:30pm.
During a search of the Dhaka-bound Madhumati Express, which had departed from Rajshahi, the team recovered 12 bottles of Indian LSD left unattended on the train.
The estimated market value of the drugs is approximately Tk6.24 crore.
In a separate operation early Tuesday, BGB teams raided areas near the border, including Munsiganj Field and Pragpur River ghat, seizing a large quantity of Indian dexamethasone tablets, Faredil syrup, and leaf-based bidi.
The estimated market value of these items is around Tk2.81 lakh.
BGB officials said the force remains committed to ensuring border security and preventing smuggling of drugs, explosives, and all forms of illegal activity.
They added that strict and effective operations will continue to deter such crimes along the border in the future.
