The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has announced that it will now directly receive complaints via WhatsApp regarding social media content linked to terrorism, violence, or incitement to violence.
After initial verification and screening, the information received will be formally reported to the relevant social media platform authorities through the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
It stated that the government cannot directly remove any social media post. However, it can formally report content related to violence to the relevant platform for removal, citing logical and evidence-based reasons.
In this context, it was reminded that any speech which directly instigates or incites violence is a punishable offense under the National Cyber Security Ordinance 2025.
All are urged to refrain from using social media as a tool for creating violence or instability. Conscious and responsible behaviour is expected to protect the security of the country and the lives and property of citizens.
