An NCP delegation met with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin on Monday and raised multiple complaints, alleging administrative bias, misuse of state agencies, and threats to a fair electoral process.
Speaking after the meeting at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, NCP Central Election Management Committee member Ayman Rahat said former home minister and BNP leader Altaf Hossain Chowdhury had publicly claimed that the police, National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) were used to survey and select BNP candidates.
Rahat also alleged that after BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman announced an agricultural loan waiver, a director of Bangladesh Bank sought borrower information from several banks, raising questions about the neutrality of state institutions and the fairness of the electoral environment.
Citing incidents in Hatiya and Sherpur, Rahat said that despite video evidence showing attacks on NCP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists during a ferry inauguration in Noakhali-6, no arrests have been made. He accused administrative officials of siding with the attackers.
He further expressed concern over anticipatory bail granted to those accused in the killing of a Jamaat leader in Sherpur.
The NCP also raised alarm over alleged misinformation related to the upcoming referendum and urged the Election Commission to take strict action.
The delegation highlighted concerns about attacks and online harassment targeting women activists and demanded a safer environment for female candidates.
Rahat said the party remained unconvinced despite assurances from the Election Commission.
Joint Member Secretary Akram Hossain and Advocate Humaira Noor were also present during the meeting.
