The National Citizen Party (NCP) has issued strong condemnation following a police attack on a peaceful protest led by Inqilab Moncho, which was demanding justice for the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi.
NCP described the incident as a “despicable and barbaric” use of state forces to suppress a legitimate movement for justice.
According to reports, more than 50 activists were injured during the police action.
Notable among the injured are Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, who reportedly sustained gunshot wounds, as well as Rucsu GS Salauddin Ammar and Ducsu leader Fatima Tasnim Juma.
The NCP stated that such attempts to stifle peaceful assembly through violence send a “dangerous message” that the state is aligning itself against the pursuit of justice.
The party highlighted that nearly two months have passed since Sharif Osman Hadi was murdered in broad daylight, yet there has been no visible progress in the judicial process.
The NCP characterised this delay as a “manifestation of the extreme failure” of both the interim government and the judiciary, accusing authorities of deliberately ignoring the public’s rightful demands.
In an official statement, the NCP expressed solidarity with the families of the injured and wished the victims a speedy recovery. The party further demanded an immediate, fair, and transparent investigation into the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi.
Additionally, they called for those involved in the attack on the peaceful demonstrators to be exposed to the nation and held strictly accountable for their actions.
