Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s mini-series Annie, which has already made its mark on the international festival circuit, is now preparing to reach Bangladeshi audiences.
Actress Nazifa Tushi plays the central character in the series.
The latest development is that this year’s Lux Superstar winner Nazah Naoar will appear in an important role. She plays Beni, the sister of Tushi’s character, Annie.
Nazah had completed filming for the series before participating in the Lux Superstar competition.
The official release date for Annie has not yet been announced, but the series is expected to premiere on OTT platform iScreen soon.
Before its domestic release, Annie made its international debut in June at Seriencamp Festival in Cologne, Germany.
The specialised festival, which focuses on television and web series, featured a Bangladeshi series for the first time with Annie.
Alongside Tushi, the series features Yash Rohan, Symon Sadik, Sarika Sabrin, Farhana Mithu and others in important roles.
Annie marks Saad’s first collaboration with Tushi.
The dystopian drama follows a young nurse named Annie, who struggles to raise her five younger siblings in a small town as a mysterious disease spreads across the world.
Meanwhile, Nazah is set to appear in filmmaker Shihab Shaheen’s upcoming web film Cafe Umbrella, where she will share the screen with Partha Sheikh.
She is also expected to appear in several upcoming television dramas.
