Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has recalled a series of unexplained incidents in his bedroom at Mumbai’s Galaxy Apartments, saying he often felt an unseen presence around him and never believed he was alone in the room, states Hindustan Times.
The actor shared the unusual experience during the opening episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar.
The conversation turned to Salman’s early days and his family home, where Karan remembered being surprised by the actor’s modest bedroom.
Karan recalled visiting Salman while the actor was working on Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai in 1998.
He said Salman lived with his parents, Salim and Salma Khan, and brothers Arbaaz and Sohail in the family apartment. Despite his growing stardom, the actor had a small room containing just a bed and a cupboard.
Salman then explained why he never felt alone in that room.
“I never stayed alone in that room. I always stayed there with somebody whom I had never seen, only heard and felt behind me,” he recalled.
Salman Khan describes strange happenings in his room
Salman said the lights would flicker whenever he left the room, while the cupboards would open without anyone touching them. He also recalled the music system switching on by itself.
The actor added that he sometimes sensed someone moving around outside the bathroom and fiddling with the cupboards. These experiences eventually convinced him that something was present, although he could not identify it.
When Karan asked whether he believed the room was haunted, Salman avoided describing it that way. Instead, he said he had felt a presence but had never been frightened by it.
Salman explained that he would sometimes play music before leaving the room, as though accommodating the unseen presence.
He also recalled hearing noises from inside the bedroom while playing billiards outside with his brothers.
The actor said the experience never seriously disturbed him because he did not believe the presence had harmed him. He even joked that his only request was for it to reveal itself if it happened to be a beautiful woman.
The discussion also revisited Salman’s memorable appearance in Karan Johar’s 1998 romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji.
Salman played Aman Mehra, the fiancé of Kajol’s character, Anjali.
Karan recalled narrating the film’s story to Salman and being impressed by how readily the actor agreed to take on the cameo, despite hearing only the first half of the script.
Salman reportedly praised the screenplay’s second half while other people waited to discuss their projects with him, even though Karan had not yet narrated it to him.
The episode offered a glimpse into the actors’ long-standing association while bringing an unexpected personal story from Salman’s life into the conversation.
On the professional front, Salman will next appear in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-starring Chitrangada Singh. The film’s release date has not yet been announced.
He is also reportedly set to work on a project backed by producer Dil Raju and directed by Vamshi Paidipally.
The film, reportedly titled Monster, is expected to feature Nayanthara alongside Salman and is scheduled for an Eid 2027 release.
Salman’s account of the unusual incidents at Galaxy Apartments has added another intriguing anecdote to his recent appearance on Koffee With Karan.
