The Bangladesh Ambulance Owners Welfare Association has called for a nationwide strike starting Wednesday morning to press home a five-point charter of demands.
Badal Madbar, general secretary of the association, confirmed the strike on Tuesday, announcing that the action would commence at 6am and continue for an indefinite period across the country.
The association’s demands include the implementation of a commercial policy regarding ambulances and the provision of parking facilities at every government hospital.
The owners are also seeking toll-free passage for ambulances in accordance with a High Court ruling, as well as toll-free facilities for freezer vans and ambulances carrying deceased persons. Furthermore, the charter calls for ensuring a 24-hour fuel supply for all ambulances.
