Robi Axiata PLC posted a 29.3 per cent year-on-year rise in profit after tax (PAT) to Tk495.3 crore in the first half of 2026, as stronger data revenue, subscriber growth and improved operational efficiency boosted earnings.
The telecom operator’s revenue reached Tk5,242.9 crore during January-June 2026, up 7.1 per cent from the same period a year earlier. Earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk0.95 in H1’26.
According to a press statement, Robi’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), a measure of operating performance before financing costs, taxes and non-cash expenses, rose 15.7 per cent year-on-year to Tk2,842.9 crore during the period.
Its EBITDA margin improved by 4 percentage points to 54.2 per cent, indicating stronger operating efficiency.
Data revenue grew 13.6 per cent in H1’26, while voice revenue increased 1.3 per cent compared with the same period last year, reflecting the company’s continued shift towards data-led services.
Robi maintained its earnings momentum in the second quarter, posting PAT of Tk262.9 crore with a 9.7 per cent margin. Revenue in Q2’26 reached Tk2,711.7 crore, registering 6.1 per cent year-on-year growth, while EPS stood at Tk0.50.
Compared with the previous quarter, Robi’s revenue increased 7.1 per cent, EBITDA rose 10.5 per cent and EPS grew 13.2 per cent in Q2’26.
The company’s subscriber base expanded during the quarter, with Robi adding 12 lakh subscribers to take its active subscriber base to 5.86 crore.
Its data subscriber base reached 4.62 crore, while 4G subscribers stood at 4.21 crore. During the quarter, the company added 17 lakh internet subscribers and 18 lakh 4G subscribers.
Robi continued expanding its network coverage, operating more than 19,600 4G sites by the end of Q2’26 and achieving 98.98 per cent population coverage.
The company invested Tk1,071.1 crore in capital expenditure during H1’26. Its total payment to the government exchequer reached Tk3,666.6 crore, equivalent to 69.9 per cent of its half-year revenue.
Robi Managing Director and CEO Ziad Shatara said the company experienced stronger quarter-on-quarter revenue and profit growth in Q2’26 as economic activity started recovering.
He attributed the performance to significant additions of data and 4G subscribers and higher data usage during the football World Cup period, which supported growth in data revenue.
“Currently, 72 per cent of Robi’s active subscribers are 4G users and the share of data revenue is almost touching the voice revenue in relation to the total revenue,” Ziad said, adding that these indicators reflected Robi’s growing position as a preferred telecom operator in the digital era.
He said PAT continued to grow on the back of strong fiscal discipline.
Ziad welcomed the government’s vision to increase the contribution of the ICT and telecom sectors to 10 per cent of national GDP by 2031, saying the target was achievable if investment opportunities remained open for foreign investors.
He also appreciated the removal of SIM tax and SIM replacement tax, saying the decision showed the government’s willingness to support the sector.
Ziad further welcomed incentives for companies adopting solar power, saying the move would accelerate Robi’s progress towards its Net Zero vision.
Robi Axiata shares closed 0.31 per cent higher at Tk32.60 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
