Cricketer Nasir Hossain did not seduce her, nor did they have any physical relationship before marriage, Tamima Sultana Tammi has told a Dhaka court while giving her defence testimony in a case filed by her former husband.
Tammi, a former air hostess, appeared before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam on Monday to testify in her defence. Nasir Hossain was also present in the courtroom.
The case was filed by Rakib Hasan, Tammi’s ex-husband, on charges of enticing another’s wife, adultery, and defamation.
In her testimony, Tammi said she started working as an air hostess at Saudi Airlines in July 2015. She divorced Rakib Hasan on 23 December 2016.
“Nasir Hossain did not entice me in any way, nor did we have any sexual relationship before our marriage,” she told the court.
She said she married the cricketer five years after divorcing her first husband.
Following her testimony, Tamima was cross-examined by the plaintiff’s lawyer, Israt Hasan. As the cross-examination could not be completed, the court set 8 April for the remaining cross-examination and for Nasir’s defence testimony.
Rakib Hasan filed the case on 24 February 2021. On 30 September 2021, PBI Inspector Sheikh Mizanur Rahman submitted a report to the court implicating the three accused. The court ordered the trial to begin by framing charges against Nasir and Tammi on 24 January 2022.
However, Tammi’s mother, Sumi Akhter, who was also an accused in the case, was acquitted.
