The Bangla Academy is set to host the 67th solo photography exhibition titled ‘Photoseum: Faces of Memory and Oblivion’ by Ekushey Padak-winning legendary photographer Nasir Ali Mamun.
The exhibition will run from April 14 to April 30, 2026, marking Pohela Baishakh 1433, at the historic Burdwan House on the academy premises.
Featuring more than a hundred photographs, the exhibition showcases evocative portraits of some of Bangladesh’s most renowned late poets, essayists, researchers and fiction writers, captured in a striking interplay of light and shadow. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view several rare photographs of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The opening ceremony will be held on April 14 at 10:30 am at the academy’s Nazrul Stage. Eminent artist Monirul Islam will attend as the chief guest.
Director General of Bangla Academy, Professor Mohammad Azam, will deliver the welcome address, while Nasir Ali Mamun will offer remarks at the event. The session will be chaired by Bangla Academy President Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq.
According to the organisers, the exhibition will remain open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm between April 14 and April 20; and from April 21 to April 30, visiting hours will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Burdwan House.
The exhibition is expected to draw art enthusiasts and cultural figures, adding a reflective dimension to the Pohela Baishakh celebrations in the capital.
