Nagad has set a new transaction record in the first quarter (January–March) of 2026, processing more than Tk1,11,355.32 crore, marking a 20.97 percent rise compared with the same period last year.
The Postal Department-affiliated mobile financial service provider also recorded strong growth in customer engagement and transaction volumes, reflecting rising consumer trust and a sustained upward trend.
According to a press release, in 2025, Nagad processed Tk92,054 crore in the first quarter. The figure dipped slightly to Tk91,333 crore in the second quarter before recovering to Tk92,125 crore in the third. In the final quarter of 2025, it crossed the Tk1 lakh crore mark for the first time, recording Tk1,02,381 crore.
Building on that momentum, transactions rose to Tk1,11,355 crore in the first quarter of 2026, up 8.77 percent from the previous quarter.
Monthly figures showed fluctuations during the period. Transactions reached Tk40,301 crore in January, then dropped to Tk29,585 crore before climbing to a new monthly high of Tk41,469 crore in March.
The decline was linked to temporary restrictions imposed on Nagad and other mobile financial service operators during the election period, which affected overall activity.
During January–March, Nagad also recorded its highest-ever volumes in add money from banks, merchant payments and inward remittances. It posted strong growth in person-to-person transfers, cash-in and cash-out services. Government allowances and stipends were also disbursed during this period.
Nagad Administrator Motasem Billah said the service remains popular among lower-middle-income and marginalised groups due to its cost-effectiveness.
“Our cash-out charge is Tk6.50 per Tk1,000, which is lower than other operators. We offer the lowest rate in the market,” he said.
He added that features such as free send-money services and low-cost remittance options continue to build public confidence.
“This trust enables Nagad to break its own records regularly. We expect to maintain this growth trend in the coming days,” he said.
Since its launch, Nagad has focused on people-oriented products and services. These have supported rural economic activity and helped bring millions of unbanked individuals into the formal financial system, contributing to the national economy.
