Nagad, the mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Postal Department, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with NRB Bank PLC to make financial transactions easier, affordable and accessible for customers across Bangladesh, the organisations said in a press release.
The agreement was signed at NRB Bank’s corporate head office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, by Md Motasem Billah, Bangladesh Bank-appointed administrator of Nagad, and Tarek Reaz Khan, Managing Director and CEO of NRB Bank, on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the partnership, NRB Bank will use Nagad’s platform to extend banking services to remote areas where it does not have physical branches. The initiative will enable inward foreign remittances sent through NRB Bank to reach beneficiaries’ Nagad wallets instantly, allowing recipients to receive and use funds round the clock.
The two organisations also plan to expand services including nano-loans and corporate collection services through the partnership.
Nagad Chief Commercial Officer Mohummed Shahin Sarwar Bhuiyan and Head of Remittance Md Ahsanul Hoque Bashar attended the signing ceremony, while NRB Bank was represented by Deputy Managing Directors Anwar Uddin and M Rashidul Huda, Head of Branch Banking Md Towfiqul Alam Chowdhury, Head of Transaction Banking Md Arifuzzaman and Acting Head of Remittance Syed Mahfuz Ali, along with other senior officials.
Nagad Administrator Md Motasem Billah said fintech would transform traditional transaction systems and that cooperation among institutions was essential to meet changing financial needs.
NRB Bank Managing Director and CEO Tarek Reaz Khan said the bank aims to modernise traditional banking transactions and that using Nagad’s network of more than 300,000 agent points would expand its reach beyond its 109 branches and sub-branches nationwide.
Nagad has also introduced initiatives to encourage digital transactions and promote legal remittance channels, including awareness and reward-based campaigns for expatriates and their families. The company recently launched the “Har Na Mana Har” campaign, offering foreign remittance recipients opportunities to win gold necklaces.
The mobile financial service provider has also expanded cashless payment facilities through “Bangla QR” payments and integration with the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB), enabling users to make payments at 10 lakh Bangla QR merchant outlets nationwide through the Nagad app.
