Nagad has launched a month-long World Cup activation campaign across Bangladesh aimed at engaging young people and football enthusiasts during the ongoing Football World Cup, said in a press release. The mobile financial service provider began the programme on 18 June 2026 through festive events held at Dhaka University and Dhaka College, where students participated in large numbers and contributed to a vibrant opening-day atmosphere.
The campaign is being rolled out across 27 districts using Nagad-branded caravans, targeting educational institutions, public gathering points and key venues nationwide. The activation features appearances by national football team players and sports influencers, alongside interactive sessions, football-themed games, sports quizzes and PlayStation 5 competitions designed to engage participants throughout the tournament period.
The opening event was held at the Masterda Surja Sen Hall tennis court at Dhaka University, where Matsushima Sumaiya, a player of the National Women’s Football Team, took part in quizzes, football-related activities and game shows with students. She also presented prizes to winners, with organisers noting strong enthusiasm from students eager to interact with a national sports figure.
At Dhaka College, students also took part spontaneously in quizzes, games and entertainment activities, with organisers highlighting significant turnout and active participation that added to the festive atmosphere of the campaign launch.
Naznin Nahar Nipa, a student of the university, said the scale of the event came as a surprise on campus and described the experience of meeting Matsushima Sumaiya and taking part in activities as memorable. She thanked Nagad for creating a World Cup-themed experience for students.
Nagad’s Head of Marketing HUM Mehedi Sajjad said the initiative aims to bring World Cup excitement closer to people across the country while also promoting digital financial services. He said Nagad continues to focus on making financial transactions simpler, faster and more accessible through safe digital platforms.
In addition to campus activations, Nagad has introduced a separate World Cup quiz and recharge-based campaign for general customers. Participants in the broader campaign can win prizes, including the opportunity to watch an international match featuring the national football team live at a stadium abroad.
The company said the combined initiatives are designed to expand nationwide engagement around the World Cup while strengthening its connection with younger consumers through sports-driven outreach activities.
