The 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) auction got underway on Sunday, 30 November 2025, at the Grand Ballroom of Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka. In the opening phase, former national captain Mushfiqur Rahim went unsold, along with fellow experienced all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad.

Taking the initial disappointment in stride, Mushfiq took to Facebook to share a message of gratitude and acceptance, writing simply: “Alhamdulillah for everything.”

Both players, who are in the ‘B’ category with base prices of 35 lakh taka, will have another opportunity to find a franchise, as they are set to be reintroduced later in the auction as ‘C’ category players at a base price of 22 lakh taka.

Other players who had initially gone unsold have since been picked up. Chattogram Royals secured Naim for 1 crore 10 lakh taka after competitive bidding from Sylhet, Rangpur and Noakhali. Rangpur Riders signed Liton Das for 75 lakh taka, while pacer Ebadot Hossain joined Sylhet Titans at his base price of 22 lakh taka. Spinner Naim Hasan also found a team, going to Rangpur Riders at 18 lakh taka.
