BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that while the word “Mother” may be small, its significance is infinite.
“From birth until death, a person’s ultimate refuge is their mother. Mother is a small word, but its vastness is infinite,” he remarked in a message marking ‘Mother’s Day’.
Fakhrul extended his heartfelt congratulations and good wishes to all mothers in Bangladesh and around the world, wishing them prosperity and good health. “Although there is no need for a specific day or time to honour one’s mother,” he added.
The veteran BNP leader further said, “A mother shows the child the light of the world. That is why a child’s love for their mother exists every day, yet this day is set aside to express that love distinctly.”
He continued, “At the root of a child’s success lies the mother’s energy and initiative. This devoted person remains uncompromising and struggles in every way to raise her children. A mother is a source of immense strength.”
Fakhrul also highlighted the contributions of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, stating, “The contributions made by our late Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia for the advancement of women in society during her tenure as Prime Minister have been praised both at home and abroad. The Deshnetri’s contributions to the financial and social progress of this country are legendary.”
He added, “Even though she faced the terrible wrath of the regime for attempting to restore the plundered democracy, she never deviated from her duties. That is why late Begum Khaleda Zia is universally respected and honoured today as the ‘Mother of Democracy’ on both the national and international stage.”
The minister prayed for Khaleda Zia, saying, “On this glorious day, I pray to Almighty Allah that He grants the late Begum Khaleda Zia a place in Jannah (Heaven).”
