Police recovered the bodies of a woman and her minor son from a residence in the Tilpapara area of Khilgaon in the capital on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Nargis, 35, and her five-year-old son, Mahim.
According to police, the incident took place between 2pm and 4pm on the third floor of the ‘Panna Building’ in Tarabag Lane 2.
Primary police findings suggest that a domestic dispute may have led the mother to kill her son before committing suicide.
Harun Or Rashid, Deputy Commissioner of the Motijheel Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), stated that Khilgaon police rushed to the spot after being informed of the incident.
The husband of the deceased woman is a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver by profession.
The bodies have been sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police are currently investigating the matter to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.
