A Dhaka court has deferred the date for submission of the investigation report in a case against former national cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan and 15 others on charges of stock market manipulation, fraud, and money laundering. The new date is 23 September.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Shahjahan Kabir fixed the new date as the Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC) failed to submit its report on Monday.

Other accused in the case include Abul Khair, deputy registrar of the Department of Cooperatives; his wife Kazi Sadia Hasan; Abul Kalam Madbar; Konika Afroze; Mohammad Bashar; Sajed Madbar; Aleya Begum; Kazi Fuad Hasan; Kazi Farid Hasan; Javed A Matin; Zahed Kamal; Humayun Kabir; and Tanvir Nizam.
According to the case statement, the accused manipulated the stock market by conducting illegal series transactions, fraudulent active trading, and gambling.
They artificially inflated the prices of certain shares, deceiving general investors and causing them to lose large sums of money. The case alleges that ordinary investors suffered losses amounting to Tk256.97 crore.
Based on these allegations, the case was filed on 17 June last year under the Money Laundering Prevention Act, the Anti‑Corruption Commission Act, and various sections of the Penal Code.
