BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urges keeping religion out of politics
“Bangladesh is home to people of Hindu, Buddhist and other faiths. Using religion in politics will create bias” Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Sunday at Thakurgaon.
He made the remark during an election campaign rally at Barunagaon Dakhil Madrasah ground in Salandar union around 12pm.
Fakhrul said, “I spent 15 years facing lawsuits and police harassment. There is hardly any BNP leader who has not faced a case. The government filed cases against 6 million people nationwide.”
“In Thakurgaon alone, over 7,500 cases were lodged. We endured immense suffering and financial loss” Fakhrul added.
He stressed “After Hasina fled, the cases were withdrawn. What the Awami League has done, no BNP leader would ever do.”
He also highlighted the difference between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
“BNP is a tried and tested party. Everyone knows us. If we return to power, we will issue family cards to mothers. These cards will allow access to rice, pulses and flour at fair prices. Patients will get proper treatment at hospitals. Families can support their children’s education. Farmers will receive agricultural cards, ensuring affordable fertiliser and pesticides” Fakhrul noted.
