BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has expressed grave concerns regarding potential widespread unrest on the day of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Speaking at a mass contact programme in the Malibagh area after Jummah prayers, he said he expects serious trouble in his constituency, blaming the activities of Jamaat-e-Islami and its supporters.
Mirza Abbas criticised the decision to hold the election within a short timeframe, saying previous elections had preparations spanning at least three months. He alleged that the compressed schedule amounts to an injustice to candidates.
He also raised concerns over alleged irregularities, claiming ballot papers and seals were already being found ahead of polling day, an issue he said he had anticipated earlier.
Urging the Election Commission to take appropriate action, the BNP leader stressed that the commission must remain neutral to ensure a credible election process.
