A seven-year-old girl was found murdered with her throat slit in the capital’s Pallabi area on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Ramisa, was the daughter of Abdul Hannan Mollah.
The incident took place in Block B of Section 11 under the jurisdiction of Pallavi Police Station.
According to local residents, the crime occurred at approximately 9am.
Locals have alleged that Sohel, 32, a tenant of the adjacent flat, murdered the child.
There is a widespread local suspicion that the victim was raped before being killed.
Upon receiving a call through the national emergency service number 999, Pallabi police arrived swiftly at the scene.
They were subsequently joined by members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and other law enforcement agencies to conduct a forensic examination.
Emdadul Haque, inspector (Investigation) of Pallabi Police Station, confirmed the report, stating that primary allegations of murder have been levelled against Sohel.
“We are yet to ascertain the exact motive behind the killing,” he said.
The suspect, Sohel, is currently absconding, and police efforts are underway to apprehend him
