Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Friday visited the site of a fire incident at the Directorate of Primary Education in Mirpur and directed authorities to investigate the cause of the blaze.
The fire reportedly broke out around 5am on the directorate premises.
During his visit, the minister instructed the Primary and Mass Education Secretary to form a three-member investigation committee to determine the cause of the incident.
He also asked police to investigate whether any act of sabotage was involved.
Ehsanul Hoque Milon further directed law enforcement agencies to submit a detailed report promptly after completing their inquiry.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, Secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain, and Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Shahina Ferdousi were present during the visit.
Officials said assessment of the damage caused by the fire is ongoing.
