Police have arrested three people, including main accused, in the murder, attempted rape, and body concealment of seven-year-old student Irin Akter in Faridpur.
The arrested suspect, Israfil Medha, is identified as the prime accused in the case.
Police also detained two others, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in concealing the victim’s body after the killing.
The information was confirmed at a press briefing on Friday at the Kotwali Police Station conference room by Additional Superintendent of Police Md Azmir.
He said law enforcers arrested all suspects, including the main accused, within eight hours of recovering the body.
He added that the prime accused is expected to give a confessional statement in this regard before a court under Section 164.
Police said the body of the child was recovered on Thursday morning from a banana plantation beside a railway line in Kafura area under Gerda Union in Faridpur Sadar Upazila, six days after she went missing.
The victim, Irin Akter, was a student of Bukail Government Primary School and the daughter of rickshaw puller Baka Mia.
She lived with her family in Bukail Ashrayan Project area under Gerda Union and was the youngest of five sisters.
