A total of 430 Bangladeshis, who were stranded in Qatar due to suspended flights amid the recent conflict involving Iran and Israel, safely returned home on Friday evening.

The passengers arrived on a special Qatar Airways flight that landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:10pm.

Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, executive director of the airport, confirmed that many passengers had been unable to travel earlier because of canceled flights.

The returning group included transit passengers as well as staff members of the Bangladeshi embassy who had been stuck in Qatar.

Authorities emphasized that the operation was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to assist citizens stranded abroad due to regional instability.

Since 28 February, more than 475 flights have been canceled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka due to airspace closures in the Middle East.
