Army personnel have seized a microbus carrying Tk10.49 lakh in Chandanaish upazila of Chattogram. The vehicle and the money were later handed over to the police.
Chandanaish Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) Elias Khan said the cash was recovered during a search on Tuesday night in Abdul Barihat area of Chandanaish under the Chattogram‑14 constituency.
He said, “As per the instructions of the returning officer, army personnel handed over the money and the vehicle to us.”
He added that the election tribunal will decide on the seized money.
Assistant Returning Officer and Chandanaish Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rajib Hossain said, “The money is now in police custody. No one has claimed the cash yet.”
Authorities said they are investigating the source of the recovered money and identifying those involved.
