Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe will miss this week’s Spanish Super Cup due to a knee injury.
The Spanish giants have not included their top scorer in the squad for the tournament, which is being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Mbappe experienced knee problems last week. A close source to the 27-year-old striker confirmed to AFP that he may have to stay out of action for at least three weeks.
Javi Alonso’s team will face local rivals Atletico Madrid in the semi-final on Thursday. In the other semi-final on Wednesday, Barcelona will take on Athletic Bilbao.
At present, Real Madrid are four points behind current La Liga champions Barcelona.
