A man was allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute over setting up a shop in Darul Aman Trust area of Pabna on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sujan Mollah, 28, a resident of the Darul Aman Trust area of the town.
A man, Sohan Islam, 20, was arrested on charges of involvement in the murder, said Dulal Hossain, officer‑in‑charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.
Locals and police said an argument ensued between Sujan and Sohan over setting up the shop around 8:30pm. At one stage, Sohan attacked Sujan with a knife, they said.
Later, locals rescued critically injured Sujan and took him to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
OC Dulal Hossain said that upon receiving the news, police recovered the body and kept it at the police station.
Further legal proceedings are underway, he added.
