A man was allegedly killed by his younger brother in Narsingdi on Saturday, with police detaining two suspects.
The incident took place in front of a pump in the Satirpara area of the town. Police have detained two people, including the victim’s brother Hasan, in connection with the incident.
Al Amin and Hasan were sons of Nur Islam from Atash Ali Bazar area under Nilaksha union in Raipura upazila and were living in a rented house in the Chouala area. Family members said the siblings were among five brothers and two sisters.
For a long time, Naim, son of Habib of Chouala area, had been proposing a relationship to their sister Taslima Begum, which led to a dispute with her brothers. Three days earlier, Al Amin held a meeting with Naim and settled the matter, but Hasan did not accept the resolution.
On Saturday morning, when Al Amin went out to the market, Hasan attacked him in front of Azad Filling Station in the Satirpara area and stabbed him multiple times in the abdomen with scissors, leaving him critically injured.
Relatives took him to hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The doctor said Al Amin was brought dead to the hospital with multiple injuries to the abdomen and died due to excessive bleeding.
Narsingdi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge AR M Al Mamun said the accused Hasan and Naim were detained in connection with the killing.
They will be sent to jail through court after a case is filed, he added.
