The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number 3 as a low-pressure area over the North-West Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas is likely to intensify further.
According to a weather bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday, the existing low pressure may develop into a well-marked low. The sea remains rough due to its influence.
The low pressure initially formed on Wednesday over the North-West Bay and the adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coastal areas. Following its formation, the meteorological office had previously directed all maritime ports to hoist cautionary signal number 3.
Meanwhile, all fishing boats and trawlers positioned in the North Bay have been advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution.
