A mild cold wave is sweeping across the country, with the lowest temperature recorded in Kishoreganj’s Nikli upazila. 

The sun remained unseen as continuous cold conditions over the past several days have brought daily life to a standstill.

On Sunday morning, the temperature dropped to 9.8°degrees Celsius, according to Jahidul Islam Masum, acting officer of the Nikli met office.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) at 11:30am, Nikli recorded the lowest temperature in the country on the day. The Met Department said the intensity of cold may increase slightly on Monday compared to Sunday.

A mild cold wave is currently passing over the district. Cold conditions are expected to persist throughout the month, with little chance of relief.

The prolonged cold spell has caused severe hardship, especially for low-income communities. 

Many people have been unable to go out for daily work due to the extreme weather, pushing them into harsh living conditions.
