A court in Ishwardi has sent Nishi Rahman, 38, to jail on Wednesday after her arrest over killing of eight newborn puppies.
She was produced before Pabna Amli Court–2 where Judge Tarikul Islam ordered her imprisonment following a hearing.
The case was filed on Tuesday by Ishwardi Upazila Livestock Officer Aklima Khatun.
Police arrested Nishi on Tuesday from a rented house in the municipality.
She is the wife of Hasanur Rahman Noyon, an officer of the Small Farmers Development Foundation under the Rural Development and Co-operatives Division.
Ishwardi Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Pronob Kumar said the case was filed after the incident went viral on social media.
“She was arrested the same night and produced before the court after legal procedures,” he said.
UNO Moniruzzaman said a written order was issued on Monday asking Nishi’s husband to vacate their government quarter. “They left the residence on Tuesday afternoon,” he said.
