BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been inducted as a member of the party’s Fulgazi upazila committee in Feni, her ancestral hometown.

Khaleda, who has long represented the Feni-1 constituency (Fulgazi upazila) in parliament, was placed at the top of the committee list for Fulgazi Sadar union.

The upazila BNP announced the complete committees for six unions under Fulgazi on Thursday night, reports UNB.

Each union body comprises a 10-member advisory council along with a 71-member executive panel. Fulgazi BNP convenor Fakhrul Alam Swapon and member secretary Abul Hossain Bhuiyan approved the new lineups.

Monir Ahmad has been chosen as president and Md Yasin Mahmud Mozumder as general secretary for the Sadar union committee. Convenor Fakhrul said the restructured committees will boost BNP’s organisational activities at the grassroots level.

He emphasised that ahead of the upcoming national election, leaders and activists will work together to strengthen the party’s field presence. He also hinted that Khaleda, former prime minister, and is expected to contest the election again from this seat.
