BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is admitted to Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital, is able to receive treatment, said her personal physician AZM Zahid Hossain.
He also urged the public not to pay attention to rumours regarding Khaleda’s condition.
“By the grace of Allah, she is able to receive treatment, or we can say she is able to maintain it,” Dr Zahid said while briefing reporters in front of the Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara on Tuesday.
He added, “Tarique Rahman is constantly in touch with both local and foreign doctors, as well as with us. He has requested the people of the country to remain patient.”
While speaking about Khaleda Zia’s latest condition, Dr Zahid became emotional. In response to a question about taking her abroad for treatment, he said, “At this moment, nothing can be done beyond the patient’s condition and the advice of the medical board.”
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was admitted to the hospital on 23 November. She is suffering from infections in her heart and lungs, along with kidney, liver, arthritis, and diabetes complications. On Monday, BNP Vice Chairman Ahmed Azam Khan said that her condition is currently “very critical”.
