The Khulna Development Authority (KDA) and AKIJ Ispat Limited organised a seminar on the role of high-quality reinforcement bars in earthquake-resistant construction at the KDA auditorium in Khulna on Thursday.
KDA Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Zahangir Hossain attended as chief guest while AKIJ Ispat CEO Galib Mohammad was present as special guest, said a press release.
The keynote was delivered by Dr Mehedi Ahmed Ansary, a professor of civil engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
Ansary is also founder secretary general of Bangladesh Earthquake Society.
Engineers, architects, teachers, representatives of residential area committees and other professionals working in related fields took part in the seminar.
The programme was presided over by KDA Chief Engineer Kazi Md Sabirul Alam, it said.
