Pop star Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have officially confirmed their separation, according to multiple US media reports, as cited by the BBC. The couple, who have been in an on-and-off relationship since 2016 and share a four-year-old daughter, have reportedly decided to focus on co-parenting.

In a joint statement provided to US outlets, representatives for the pair said: “They have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

The statement comes amid growing public interest in their relationship status.

Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, first split in 2017 before rekindling their romance shortly after. They became engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019. In 2020, Perry announced her pregnancy in the music video for Never Worn White, and later that year, the couple welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove. The birth was announced by Unicef on Instagram, where both Perry and Bloom serve as goodwill ambassadors.

The news of their split follows a challenging year for Perry. Her latest album 143 and its lead single Woman’s World have not matched the success of her previous work. Currently on tour, Perry has reportedly faced slower ticket sales. Additionally, she and other female celebrities received criticism after participating in a Blue Origin space flight in April — an experience she later described as leaving her feeling “battered and bruised.”

Perry, who rose to fame in 2008 with I Kissed a Girl, was previously married to comedian Russell Brand. Her musical catalog includes global hits such as Roar, California Gurls, Firework, and Never Really Over.

Orlando Bloom, best known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Hobbit, was previously married to Australian model Miranda Kerr. They share a 14-year-old son, Flynn.
