Jude Bellingham has agreed to extend his Real Madrid contract until 30 June 2031, according to Spanish newspaper AS, with the England midfielder set to receive improved financial terms.
The reported agreement would extend Bellingham’s existing deal by two years. He joined Real from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023 on a contract that was due to run until the end of the 2028-29 season.
Negotiations began towards the end of last season, AS reported, with both sides reaching an understanding early in the discussions. The improved terms reflect Bellingham’s contribution on the pitch and his growing influence within the dressing room. The renewal has not yet been confirmed in an official club announcement. <Cite refs={[“turn675198search1″,”turn675198search3”]}/>
Bellingham has become an important figure at the Bernabeu since his arrival. His first season in Spain established him as one of the team’s leading performers, but physical problems affected his form during a more difficult period.
The midfielder delayed surgery on a persistent shoulder problem to help Real through a challenging spell. The issue eventually affected his performances, but he improved towards the end of last season after undergoing surgery.
His recovery continued at the World Cup, where his performances strengthened his position with England. After previously experiencing friction with manager Thomas Tuchel, Bellingham became a key part of the national side’s plans.
Real’s change in leadership has also helped him settle into a more comfortable role. Under Jose Mourinho, Bellingham has been given freedom to operate behind Kylian Mbappe, allowing him to influence attacks while continuing to contribute to the team’s pressing and defensive work.
He has recorded three goals and three assists in the league this season, according to the report. His ability to contribute in both phases of play has added to his value to the team.
The agreement also points to Real’s plans for the next generation of dressing-room leaders. With experienced figures such as Luka Modric and Toni Kroos having moved on, Bellingham is increasingly viewed as a player who can take on greater responsibility within the squad.
The proposed extension would keep the 23-year-old at the Spanish club through to the summer of 2031, giving both player and club a longer-term commitment as they build for future seasons.
